What a busy day in the tropics. TD 8 formed earlier today off the Carolinas and now we have TD 9. After many days of tracking, Invest 99L has been upgraded to TD 9. This system should become a tropical storm and generally head towards the northeast Gulf coast later this week. The NHC does note there is high uncertainty with the intensity forecast. Oh, and Hurricane Gaston has become the first major hurricane of the 2016 Atlantic season. It will stay safely out to sea. We will have a full post tonight with more information on TD 8 and TD 9.
