6/25/24 - African Wave May Develop & Track Towards Lesser Antilles
A strong tropical wave will be moving off the coast of Africa within the next day or so. It will track west across the Atlantic ocean the next several days. Most model guidance is indicating this wave has a good shot at developing into at least a depression and potentially a tropical storm as it nears the Lesser Antilles in about a week. As of now, environmental conditions look fairly conducive for some development. The wave will have to battle some dry air, but wind shear appears favorable and we all know the water temps are above average. We anticipate the NHC will begin to highlight this potential on their tropical outlook within the next couple of days. This is an early heads up from the Hurricane Tracker App for those with interests in the eastern Caribbean. If this system develops, any potential impacts would occur sometime between July 1 and July 4, stay tuned for updates as this wave progresses across the Atlantic.
