Maria is still a major hurricane with winds near 125 mph. Hurricane and tropical storm conditions continue across portions of the Dominican Republic. Tropical storm conditions are beginning to spread across the Turks and Caicos Islands and the southeastern Bahamas, and hurricane conditions are expected tonight or early Friday. Early next week, Maria is forecasted to turn north-northeast further away from the east coast. Maria will also track well west of Bermuda. We currently see only a 2-4% chance of Maria directly impacting the eastern seaboard. Swells generated by Maria will affect much of the U.S. east coast and will likely cause dangerous surf and rip currents this weekend through next week.
