Tropical Wave In The East Atlantic Will Likely Develop & Become Ian

A tropical wave located near the Cape Verde Islands is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for gradual development of this system, and a tropical depression could form by the weekend while it moves west-northwestward toward the central tropical Atlantic (next name is Ian). This system appears to be no threat to land based on the current model forecasts. We will let you know if the expected track out to sea changes.
