The NHC notes the hurricane hunters had a hard time finding a closed circulation. Chantal will face a few challenges over the next couple of days. There is a chance the system could dissipate once it crosses Hispaniola. Chantal will also be battling moderate wind shear. Once Chantal reaches the northern Bahamas there is a possibility the system could intensify or regenerate if it ends up dissipating. There are many uncertainties related to the future intensity and track. The current national hurricane center track brings Chantal near Savannah, Georgia Sunday evening as a tropical storm (assuming it survives the next few days).
