Ian is now a hurricane with winds near 75 mph. Ian is forecasted to track very near the west-central Florida coast as a major hurricane with winds near 130/140 mph on Wed and Thu. Hurricane and tropical storm watches have been issued for a portion of the west FL coast. Landfall is forecasted early Fri am. The NHC states "there's still significant uncertainty in the track of Ian, especially in the 3-5 day time frame, and users should not focus on the details of the track forecast at longer time ranges". Also, Ian is expected to slow down and produce significant wind and storm surge impacts along the west coast of FL. By all accounts, Ian is expected to become a dangerous hurricane with big impacts.
