6/8/25 - 2 Systems Form In the Eastern Pacific

The Eastern Pacific basin south of Mexico is a hot spot for tropical cyclone formation at the moment. Tropical Storm Barbara and Tropical Depression 3E formed today. TS Barbara is forecasted to become the first hurricane in the Eastern Pacific, while TD 3E is forecasted to become TS Cosme and may be near hurricane strength in a few days. Both systems are expected to weaken mid-late week. Neither system poses a direct threat to the coast of Mexico. To view Eastern Pacific storms, click on “E Pacific” at the top of the home page in the app.

The Atlantic Basin is expected to remain quiet for at least the next 7 days, if not longer. Usually, when the East Pacific is active the Atlantic basin is quiet and that ius true for now.

The EURO Ensembles show all the activity remaining in the Eastern Pacific the next 10 days.
