6/1/24 - Hurricane Season Begins Today

Welcome to the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season and our 14th year tracking storms to keep you informed without all the hype!

As you have seen from our pre-season posts this season is expected to produce well-above average number of storms due to the excessive warmth in the Atlantic Basin and a developing La Niña in the eastern Pacific.

No activity is expected in the short term. The latest 7 day NHC outlook shows nothing cooking at the moment. When we have our first tropical storm, the name will be Alberto.

June 1st: NHC outlook show’s no activity the next 7 days. You can view these outlooks under the “outlook” tab in the Hurricane Tracker App. They are issued every 6 hours by the NHC.

June and July usually have minimal activity compared to August/Sept/Oct. The bulk of the storm activity occurs after August 1st.
