9/23/22 - 9AM EDT

Tropical Depression 9 formed early this morning in the eastern Caribbean Sea. The NHC does forecast it to become a tropical storm within 24 hours and a hurricane by Monday. TD 9 will continued to be steered W-WNW around a ridge of high pressure and chances are increasing it could reach the southeastern Gulf of Mexico by Tue or Wed. The first official forecast has peak winds near 110 mph in 5 days. All interests across the Jamaica, Cuba, the western Caribbean, Florida and the Bahamas should monitor this system very closely as it tracks west and strengthens. Some intensity models do show the potential it could reach major hurricane status. Stay tuned for updates.
