Maria has been upgraded to a Category 4 hurricane with winds of 130 mph. The NHC does forecast winds to peak near 155 mph as it approaches Puerto Rico Wed am. A hurricane warning is now in effect for Puerto Rico, Culebra, and Vieques. After passing over Puerto Rico on Wednesday, Maria will impact The Dominican Republic & Haiti on Thursday and possibly the Turks & Caicos & Bahamas Friday & Saturday. The latest guidance suggests that Maria will turn north and eventually northeast away from the United States, but that track is not yet set in stone as it's still over a week away. Stay tuned to the Hurricane Tracker App for updates on Maria.
